American businessman Robert Allen Iger KBE was born on February 10, 1951. He is The Walt Disney Company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and a director on the board of directors.

Prior to that, he served as President of ABC Television from 1994 to 1995 and President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Capital Cities/ABC from 1995 until its 1996 sale to Disney.

Iger held the position of Disney’s president from 2000 to 2005, when he took over as CEO after Michael Eisner’s resignation. His contract will expire in 2020. He served as Executive Chairman from that time until his exit from the corporation in 2021.

During his first 15 years as CEO, Iger oversaw a rise in the company’s market value from $48 billion to $257 billion. He increased Disney’s intellectual property portfolio and expanded the company’s reach into foreign markets.

He handled the large acquisitions of Lucasfilm ($4.06 billion) in 2012, Marvel Entertainment ($4 billion), Pixar ($7.4 billion), and 21st Century Fox’s entertainment holdings ($71.3 billion) in 2019.

With the launches of Shanghai Disney Resort and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, respectively, in 2005 and 2016, Iger also boosted the company’s theme park resort presence in East Asia.
